The first session of the day will be presented by Emily Underwood-King, M.A. of Biblical Literature. Emily will lay a scriptural foundation for the importance of worship, and discuss the wonder of our right and responsibility to turn our words to our Creator. Drawing from Old Testament and Hebrew sources, Emily will explain how worship is the key to understanding and participating in our relationship with God. She will show how issues such as identity, experience with God, unity of believers, and the ability to change circumstance are addressed through our worship. Emily will also demonstrate why the awareness of God's splendor and holiness must be the place where true worship begins, and how worship serves both as our voices raised to Him and His words over His people.
Emily has a Masters of Arts in Biblical Literature with an emphasis in Old Testament, is a visual artist and writer. Her Masters work was over the power of God's revelation to His people through the creative arts, and has been described as "ground breaking" and "deeply necessary for a time as this".
In the second session, Singer/Songwriter Nathan Underwood teaches on the significance and power of worship from a New Testament, Historical, and experiential basis. He examines how worship has shaped our understanding of God and affected the practice of our faith. Nathan explains why worship is directly impacted by the worship leaders personal beliefs and perspectives. In this study, Nathan challenges worship leaders to develop their relationship with God and explains why this will be reflected in the depth of their congregation's worship. He offers the tools that will make worship more than just another performance and enable it become a life giving event for all.
As a worship leader at two church plants, Nathan has extensive experience in this area. He will present techniques on how to prepare for worship, presentation, and the Biblical foundations for the form worship should take.
